Chennai Super Kings have strengthened their support staff ahead of IPL 2026 by appointing former England wicketkeeper-batter James Foster as their new fielding coach. Foster brings international and franchise experience
James Foster, 45, represented England in seven Tests, 11 One-Day Internationals and five T20 Internationals during his playing career between 2001 and 2009.
Since retiring, Foster has developed a reputation as a specialist coach in franchise cricket. He has previously worked as a fielding coach with Kolkata Knight Riders and also held roles with teams such as Desert Vipers, Northern Superchargers and Peshawar Zalmi in different T20 leagues. His experience in modern T20 environments is expected to help CSK enhance their fielding standards.
Part of Stephen Fleming’s coaching group
Foster will join a well-established coaching staff led by head coach Stephen Fleming. The current support team also includes batting coach Michael Hussey, bowling coach Eric Simons, and assistant bowling coach Sriram Sridharan.
